TIMELESS words

I’m guessing that timeless should mean a time that outlasts my lifetime plus the time it takes for no one to remember my name. It is said that when a person dies, the time of the physical death and burial plus the day in the future when no one remembers anything about you is your timeless death. As a child, we used to say “no one will care one hundred years from now.”

I just finished purging some data sticks (thumb drives, USB flash drive, jump drive, pen drive, memory stick, USB key) by reviewing the content and saving or tossing. And there lies the THINKING with timeless today.

And there it was? Starring at me like a cat waiting to pounce on its prey. Published on February 16, 2012 (or saved then), the article was titled “For many, losing my religion isn’t just a song…It’s life.” That made the thinking cap turn in its tracks and wonder what about religion? Is it timeless?

According to my definition (above)…religion is dying a timeless death. The physical death started in 1963 and is being followed by the burial lasting (now) until 2017. THEN it happens…no one remembers what religion was in the first place. The statistics in that article told us that a timeless death is fast approaching. The author quoted surveys. She called the movement “the so-whats secular subset of the (nones).” The remembering (thing) may become a real (thing) when the next generation of snowflakes…”the people with an inflated sense of their own uniqueness” do not speak the word religion to their children.

The replacement word(s)…spiritually aware but of no concern TO ME.

BUT there is HOPE… Matthew 24:25. Go fish for it!
